ABOUT THE COURSE

QCTO Occupational Certificate in Hairdressing
This is a three-year course. You will attend class for the first year. The second year consists of assessments and full-time workplace experience. The third year consists of workplace experience and trade exams.
We offer the nationally recognized qualification and the reassurance that a Susca Watts qualified hairdresser is in demand worldwide. In addition, you benefit from a tradition and expertise which have extended over many years Informal training: The student has to enter into an agreement with a registered hair salon and practical hours are to be completed at the above-mentioned.

The student will complete modules under the following divisions to qualify for their Trade Test: Ladies, Gents, and Afro

Career options

Tasks of a hairdresser may include:

  • Cut and style hair according to customer requests.

  • Study a client’s face, hair, and scalp before deciding on a style and treatment.

  • Trim, shape, shampoo, and tint or bleach hair.

  • Give scalp treatments and massages, and permanent waves.

  • Trim and style beards and mustaches and sometimes advise customers on personal grooming and cosmetic aids available.

  • Responsible for ordering supplies, keeping records, receiving clients, hiring employees, and keeping the salon clean.

  • Appointment bookings, employee schedules, and various financial and clerical forms.

As a hairdresser, you have the following employment options:

  • Hair salons.

  • Hotels and departmental stores.

  • Film and television industry.

  • Unisex styling salons for Performing Arts Councils.

  • Self-employment (Open your own business).

  • Apply what you’ve learned to quizzes and assignment submissions.

Technical requirements

In order to complete a course, you’ll need:

  • An active email account

  • A smart phone with access to WhatsApp

  • Access to a computer/laptop

  • Sufficient Data/ Wi-fi access

  • Access to a printer

Additional requirements

Please note that Google and YouTube may be used in the course
Certain stationery or supplies will be needed for example, black pen, notebook, 10 black lever arch files, file dividers, laptop (should it be your preference), USB, etc.
All tools and equipment such as blow-dryers, straighteners, scissor and linen etc. will need to be purchased additionally.
